VSM: Can you briefly describe ClearSky Data's global storage network?
ER: ClearSky Data simplifies the entire enterprise lifecycle as a fully managed service.
It combines primary storage, backups and disaster recovery (DR) with on-demand scaling and agility. The solution automatically caches data, moving cold data to the cloud, keeping warm data in metro-based points of presence (PoPs) within 120 miles of customers, and keeping a small amount of hot data on-premises. For customers, data is local when they need it. When users plug into the ClearSky service, they can leverage the cloud for a secure storage model and gain back substantial time and resources they previously spent buying and managing primary storage.
VSM: What’s unique about ClearSky Data's approach to storage?
ER: ClearSky’s patent-pending Smart Tiered Caching™ software automatically matches each piece of data in a customer’s environment with the performance it demands. The service delivers hundreds of thousands of input/output operations per second (IOPs) and less than two milliseconds of latency. In other words, ClearSky acts like a local storage array in terms of performance, while providing the scalability and economics of the cloud and the low latency and high availability required for enterprise applications.
