Boston-based ClearSky Data Inc., an enterprise data storage startup whose founders come from local industry standouts EqualLogic and Netezza, has raised $20 million and signed a major partnership as it looks to expand nationwide..
The funding was led by Lincoln-based Pear Tree Partners and an unnamed strategic investor. It brings ClearSky's total investment to nearly $60 million since the cloud-computing company was founded in 2013. Previous investors include General Catalyst, Highland Capital Partners and Polaris Partners.
ClearSky aims to take the complication out of managing an IT infrastructure that combines public cloud storage with private cloud or on-premise storage. ClearSky places its own server at a customer's location and uses software to automatically move data between that server and an off-site data center or public cloud providers, like Amazon Web Services.
