This week, we announced our newest collaboration – a partnership with Faction, which architects, implements and supports cloud solutions for enterprises across multi-cloud and hybrid cloud environments. This alliance is geared toward solving a pain point for every enterprise eager to get out of its secondary data center and into the cloud for disaster recovery.
CapEx consumption models for data storage are blowing up IT budgets, and organizations are looking for the OpEx model alternative that checks all the boxes:
- Shrinks the data center footprint
- Delivers flash performance
- Comes with backup and DR baked in
This is what we’re delivering in partnership with Faction. Our joint customers will be able to get their VMs to the cloud without modification and without the burden of modifying their applications. Enterprises pay for a single, durable copy of their data, which they can access from anywhere, and they get on-demand DR with guaranteed performance, operational consistency and native VMware toolsets.
In announcing its partnership with ClearSky, Faction CEO and Co-founder Luke Norris said, “As a VMware partner, we’ve heard customers asking for a seamless on-demand DR solution with native vCenter integration, and that’s exactly what we’re delivering in partnership with ClearSky Data. The combined compute and storage on-demand allows customers to have access to reserved resources, which can be activated during a disaster, eliminating the costs and management of a secondary site. It’s unique to the market, and it is something VMware customers have sought for a long time.”
This news is about DR that delivers a recovery point objective (RPO) of 0 and recovery time objective (RTO) of less than a minute. It’s about reducing storage costs by more than 25 percent for enterprises as they extend to the cloud. And it’s about making on-demand DR a reality for the enterprise.
