Recently, we polled our Twitter community: what’s your biggest hybrid cloud challenge?
In our conversations with CIOs and IT leaders, hybrid cloud frequently surfaces as a top priority – according to RightScale, it’s the No. 1 enterprise initiative in 2016. However, different companies’ paths toward and definitions of “hybrid cloud” can vary. Focusing on certain factors that surround hybrid cloud can help keep an initiative on track, but in some cases, those factors cause more trouble than the company expects.
In response to our survey, which highlighted four of these common factors – data migration, management, security and resources – 51 percent of respondents shared that security was their biggest hybrid challenge. With this in mind, we kicked off our October #StorageDebate Twitter chat in hopes of learning more about how organizations are overcoming obstacles and streamlining their moves to the hybrid cloud. To begin, we asked how the industry’s experts define hybrid cloud in the first place – a question that sparked a fair amount of discussion on its own.
David Davis and Scott Lowe – two vExperts, ActualTech Media co-founders and enterprise technology thought leaders – shared their perspectives as featured guests of this month’s #StorageDebate. Read through the Storify below for some of the discussion’s top tweets, opinions and insights.
